The Girl Goes Blonde

I realize that changing my hair color isn’t going to end hunger or bring about world peace, but it was certainly a huge step. Over the past few years I’ve noticed more and more gray creeping up in my hair and it was starting to bug me. I planned to get a few highlights to cover up the graying hair. But a few days ago I saw this fabulous picture of the gospel group Mary Mary and fell in love with their hair color.
I snapped a picture of it and went to my stylist. A few hour later, I emerged from the hair salon looking like this….
I’ve never made such a drastic change to my hair. My hair has been really long, and really, really short but all changes have been gradual. I don’t know what got into me. Since my post on Operating On The Ceiling I’ve tried to do away with all inhibitions and insecurities and just “do me” with no concern for other’s opinions. I’m pleased with my new hair-although I’m not sure how long I will remain a blonde. I have an unhealthy obsession with my hair and no amount of therapy will help. I’ve learned to live peaceably with this condition. To read more on my undeniable hair obsession click here.

You’re girl after my own heart! As long as Miss Clariol, Loreal, and the rest are making die, rinse or any other color… I refuse to be gray! And I love changing my hair to a color God didn’t give me. You are rocking it!
I see you like Picnik too!

And I LOVE Mary Mary… “Take the shackels off my feet so I can dance, ” I just want to praise you.” Love that song, and I love how you say in your post, you have decided to just “do me” wtih no concern for others opinions. I have done the same thing too, isnt it freeing? Have a great day!

Changing hair color is a difficult decision but how’s this for a radical thought! How about letting the grey shine through. My best friend, Anne Kreamer, wrote a best-selling book about it called Going Grey. I’ll send you a copy if you feel the slightest temptation. Now, she may be my best friend and I trust her in almost all matters, but when it comes to grey, I’m all about the bottle of color!!!

Danica, if I let the gray show then how can I continue lying about being 25 years old? LOL
