Collin vs. The Bunk Bed

Here are the before and after pictures of Collin’s bedroom. My monkey is officially a big boy now. He has moved from a toddler bedroom decorated with Winnie the Pooh to a boys bedroom filled with transformers, a drum set and a guitar. Oh how excited he was when the furniture truck pulled up at the house (he had been counting down the days for a full week). “Mommie, can I climb to the top of my bed?” Up and down he went all day long. Then, as bedtime approached he finally gave his sister permission to sleep in his room with him. So, they say their prayers, laugh and talk for a complete hour, then silence. They were asleep.
At exactly 1:12 am I was awakened to a child’s screaming. I jumped from my bed and ran into Collin’s room where I found my husband prying him from the top of the bed. Collin was stuck! In his attempt to get down from the top of the bunk bed, he has inadvertently lodged himself between the bed railings. His feet were dangling over the side of the bed in Madison’s face where she slept silently. And his shoulders and head were pressed flat on his mattress. We could not get him out! Lord, what are we gonna do? Are we gonna have to call the fire department to free our child? Finally with my husbands big, burly arm muscles, Collin became a free soul again. I took him to my room where he immediately fell into a slumber as if nothing had happened. And when he woke up the next morning, Collin remembered absolutely nothing!
